ADMINISTRATION AND LEADERSHIP

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Abbeville Christian Academy is organized to function under the control of a Board of Trustees composed of twelve members. The board members are elected for a three-year term, with one-third of the membership elected each year. The Board is not a fund-raising body, nor is the Board involved in the day to day operations of the school. It sets school policy, hires staff to implement policy, oversees business and financial affairs of ACA, and provides leadership and support for teachers and administrators. The Headmaster, who is hired by the Board of Directors, is charged with the responsibility of being the chief administrator.

The Board of Trustees should act as the legal manager of the school. The board should make sure all school operations are performed in a legal manner by following due process. The Board is responsible for providing a safe and secure place for pupils, supporting the administrator and faculty, supporting all school policies and procedures, and making sure school related problems go through proper channels.

The Board of Trustees meets monthly. The Head of School actively participates in meetings of the Board and presents matters for consideration and discussion. If parents or others have a need that requires the attention of the Board, they are welcome to contact the Head of School to be included on the agenda of the next meeting. The Board encourages parents’ interest and active support through committees of involvement, and believes all parents should share in the continued progress of Abbeville Christian Academy. Contact the Head of School to inquire about available committee positions. Without notice, the ACA Board of Trustees reserves the right to alter, amend, or change the policies in this handbook as necessary.
