FACULTY

As expected of a college preparatory school, ACA provides a curriculum that is rigorous, yet attainable: one that prepares a student for continued education beyond ACA. Two Advanced Placement courses are offered for secondary students as well as “Honors” courses such as Human Anatomy & Physiology, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics and Chemistry. Secondary students may also participate in the “dual enrollment” program with Troy University or Wallace Community College. The ABEKA Math and Science program of instruction is used in grades K4 – 6th. The ABEKA curriculum is used for the language arts program for grade K4 – 6th grade. K-2nd grade students are in self-contained classrooms; students in grades 3 and 6 move to a departmentalized partnered teacher. All classes follow the Alabama State Course of Study for the various levels. These are followed as a minimum, with teachers adding and strengthening the curriculum with approved outside information and programs to bridge gaps in curriculum. Students participate in the ABEKA foreign language (Spanish) curriculum that begins in the lower grades (K-6) on alternating days and culminates with Spanish I for freshman and Spanish II for sophomores in the upper school grades.
